3 Truths to Know About Us + Purpose

The ideas of purpose and living purposefully can shape the way we live. That’s exactly what it did for Megan, founder of She Lives Purposefully. Megan dives into 3 (+ 1) core truths about purpose as it relates to God and us. From the way we were created to the ultimate goal of our lives and everything in between, listen in to the basics of purpose in this opening episode to the She Lives Purposefully podcast.
There are 3 truths about purpose that I dwell on to help me shape my idea of what purpose is and what living purposefully means.
At the end of it all, purpose is much more about God and much less about me than what culture – even Christian culture at times – promotes.
1. You were creatively created for a reason.
This isn’t an excuse for your pet sins or to embrace your not so good qualities. This is to say that the way you are wired, your likes and dislikes, interests, talents, can be used in God’s plan for your life and for His glory – our ultimate purpose.
2. Every season in life has a purpose – even the lowest ones.
In the mountains and the valleys, God is with us. He even has a purpose for those seasons in our lives. They are all used to make us more like Him, to draw us closer to Him.
3. While God has a different plans for each of our lives, we all have the same ultimate purpose: to love others, to love God and to glorify God.
Purpose is much more God-centered than we often tend to think, in fact, it’s all about Him. YES, He wants to use us and does – but ultimately, my life is here to love Jesus and glorify Him more. How do I do that practically? I obey, I love, I seek out the ways around me today to love others, love God and glorify God. Right where I am at.
BONUS TRUTH: We are free to choose to walk in a way that does NOT fulfil that ultimate purpose, and God will still use us for His glory.
Which side of history do I want to be on? God’s or my own? HINT: Jesus wins in the end.
XO, Meg
