plugging in and recharging

Constant Connection with God

Prayer. The simplest way to define it is just talking to God. Literally having a conversation with God.

But why? Whats the point? Why do we do it?

Well, prayer is our connection to God. The connection between us and the One who created us.

And partaking in that connection is vital for our soul. God never intended for us to live apart from Him. He created us to be in connection with Him and have relationship with Him.

And in a relationship, communication is essential.

A few weeks ago, I heard a pastor use the analogy of a cell phone. We can do so much with our phone. We have the power to connect with people from across the world, learn all sorts of information, we can even order Starbucks straight from our phones (no complaints here!).

But if we go even a day without plugging our phones into the charger, how effective are they?

Imagine our life similar to our phone, without plugging into that charger, that power source, how effective can we be? How well do we function?

By praying, we invite Jesus into our lives and we invite Him into the situation we are experiencing, whether that be a situation of pain or joy.

Revelation 3:20 says “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him, and he with me.”

Sometimes, we expect for God to kick down the door and impose on our situation and fix everything for us. But the Bible tells us, He knocks and waits for us to let Him in.

He does want to come into our lives and fix things for us. He wants to heal us and renew us. He wants to put our hearts at ease when we are burdened. He wants to quiet the unrelenting thoughts of worry that wreak havoc in our minds. He wants to provide us with a peace that is beyond all understanding. But we have to invite Him in.

So pray. Just talk to him. Whether it be out loud in your car on the way to work or in your head while you are sitting in class, in a room full of people or alone in your bedroom.

Anywhere and everywhere and anytime.

We don’t have to pray with it all figured out. Jesus wants us to bring our jumbled mess of thoughts to Him and just talk to Him about it.

He is our source of power. The Charger that we need to plug into daily.

We can’t let prayer be something that we do only in times of desperation. We need to pray first in every situation.

Make continual prayer a priority.

Be in constant connection with Jesus.
