who you are is not an accident
Nothing By Chance
Who you are is not an accident. Who you are by birth, experience, upbringing, training etc. is not an accident.
A few months ago, I heard David Guzik teach on purpose, and he spoke words similar to those.
These words are HUGE in relation to purpose. Who you are – YOU – does not just have this very general purpose that is insignificant. You are not insignificant. The details about you are not coincidental. YOU and the things about you are, in fact, very intentional.
You and those things were creatively created and exist for a reason.
My mind automatically jumps to Esther, one of my favorite Bible characters and also one of my favorite books of the Bible.
Esther, a Jew, whose family was taken captive and whose cousin had life-saving information for the king, turned queen used her position and her upbringing, her relationships and her knowledge to fight for her people and instigate MAJOR changes that protected and saved the Jews.
Her nationality and, in turn, natural care towards the Jewish population, her existence during her time period, her forced-upon geographical location, her new royal position, her family, etc. were not coincidences.
By the end of the story, as the Jews are saved, we begin to see that every aspect of who she is seems to be used and that one without the other would have made her just shy of being able to be used for this purpose.
All of these qualities, on their own and combined, seem almost coincidental and even insignificant until you reach the end of the story.
And friends, I firmly believe that her qualities are just as necessary and non-accidental as ours.
God doesn’t just choose to be extra creative with only some special individuals. He is very intentional in creating each and every one of us.
But, Guzik finished off with saying that your calling flows out of who you are, but your calling is not your most fundamental identity. Your most fundamental identity is that you are a daughter (or son) of God.
I read in an Instagram quote something I loved that I think sums this up: “If God has put you in a position, it is for a purpose. Never be afraid to heed to that inner voice.”
Xo,

LOVE this one girl! And of course the connection to Esther 😉 It’s so easy for me to forget that God creates us with such detail & specificity for an important purpose!
